Before the World Changes Documentary Workshop
Thaipusam Festival Documentary
Theme & Main Idea
The Thaipusam festival stands out as a ritual where the majority of the people making offerings are men. However, in our documentary, we aim to approach the relationship between religion and men from a different perspective and focus on a female figure making offerings at the festival. This will create an original story that questions the impact of religion and ritual on gender roles and the place of women in such religious events.
Aims & Objectives
- Finding a female figure in the Thaipusam festival and documenting her story.
- Observing the preparation process of the female character before the festival.
- Documenting her rituals, offerings and other activities during the festival.
- Developing a narrative that delves into religion, ritual and gender relations.
– Highlighting the impact of female participation in a male-centered ritual.
